Jaisamand Lake in Udaipur
Renowned for being Asia’s second largest artificial lake, the Jai Samand Lake in Udaipur is highly travelled by tourists from across the country. The mesmerizing artificial lake was built by Maharana Jai Singh in the year 1685. To add beauty to the location, the Maharana had a summer palace built on the backdrop of Jaisamand Lake. The magnificent lake has six interesting cenotaphs carved along the embankments of the lake.
Besides these decorated edifices, the lake boasts of seven islands which can be reached via boat. Jai Samand Lake lies close to a wildlife sanctuary which provides habitat to various types of birds and animals. Thus, one always has the option to add variety in its tour by exploring the sanctuary along with the beautiful lake.
