The construction of the Jawai dam was started by Maharaja Umaid Singh of the princely state of Jodhpur on May 12, 1946 Which was completed in 1957 During the princely period, this dam was constructed under the supervision of state engineers Edgar and Ferguson. After the formation of Rajasthan, this dam was completed in 1956 under the supervision of Chief Engineer Moti Singh.
