This famous fort was located in the city of Bikaner, stands proudly as a symbol of invincibility. The fort was originally called Chintamani and was renamed Junagarh or “Old Fort” in the early 20th century when the ruling family of bikaner moved to Lalgarh Palace outside the fort limits. The foundations of the Junagarh fort was built in 1478 by Rao Bika. This is one of those few forts in Rajasthan which is not seated on a hilltop. The Nagaur Fort is of historical importance. Nagaur fort is the fort built by the ancient Kshatriya of India. The original maker of the fort is Naagvansi Kshatriya. The Kshatriya rulers dominated Nagaur for a longer period. Nagaur rulers were repeatedly forced to pay tribute to the Sisodias of Chittor while their lands were slowly annexed by the Rathors of Jodhpur.

Climate –

Nagaur has a dry climate with a hot summer. Sand storms are common in summer. The district’s climate is marked by extreme dryness, large variations of temperature & highly irregular rainfall patterns. The maximum temperature recorded in the district is 117F with 32F as the lowest recorded temperature. The average temperature of the district is 74 F. The winter season extends from mid-November until the beginning of March. The rainy season is relatively short, extending from July through mid-September. There are ten climatological stations within the district, being within the cities of Nagaur, Khinvsar, Didwana, Merta, Parbatsar, Makarana, Nawa, Jayal, Degana & Ladnun. The average rainfall in the district is 36.16 cm & 59% relative humidity.

Geography –

Nagaur is located at 27.2°N 73.73°E. It has an average elevation of 302 metres (990 feet). Nagaur is situated amidst seven districts namely Bikaner, Churu, Sikar, Jaipur, Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur. Nagaur is the fifth largest district in Rajasthan with a vast terrain spreading over 17,718 km2 Its geographical spread is a good combine of plain, hills, sand mounds & as such it is a part of the great Indian Thar Desert.

Rana Kumbha Palace Chittorgarh :-
Rana Kumbha Palace is a part of number of legends. These legends are associated with queen Padmini of Chittorgarh. The palace is also named after the greatest of the Sisodias. The location of the palace also has its association with the history of the place. It is in this location where Padmini committed Jauhar or self immolation. The self immolation was also joined by 700 followers to save honor. This was done as a way to avoid getting dishonored at the hands of the enemies. The fort was under siege thrice but has survived all through it and hence holds much historical importance and values. The Vijay Stambh has 9 storeys and each storey is decorated with the mythical stories of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Padmini Palace Chittorgarh:-
One of the prominent tourist attractions in Chittorgarh, Padmini’s Palace narrates the story of the Cleopatra of India-Rani Padmini in its design. Also known as Rani Padmini’s Palace, it flaunts a three-Storeyed structure, which has its outer walls painted white and it overlooks a pleasant lotus pool. Surrounded by water, the architecture of the Palace is somehow influenced by the Jal Mahal of Jaipur.
History has it that Alauddin Khilji was smitten by the beauty of Rani Padmini and he used the surrounding water to catch the glimpses of her. His efforts to possess her resulted in the death of the Queen’s husband and her committing Jauhar. Today, the famous Padmini palace stands as a promising symbol of beauty, valor, honor and tragedy of the past of Chittor.

Government Museum :-
One of the most popular museums of Chittorgarh, Archaeological Museum is home to such valuable artifacts that are of immense historical significance. Placed at the eastern ending of Banbir-ki-Diwar, this museum boasts of an amazing collection of innumerable historical artifacts sourced from the Chittorgarh Fort and objects related to Hinduism as well as Buddhism that were found at the time of the excavation. One can also spot Buddhist stupas, under the trees. These stupas are placed quite close to Patta Tank and Jaimal Tank.

The collection at Archaeological Museum in Chittorgarh includes Stone Age objects, art and craft objects, coins, frescos, metallic objects, paintings, inscriptions, weapons, sculptures and terracotta figures etc. This museum was originally a fort, built by Maharaja Fateh Singh Ji during the 19th century. Sariska Tiger Reserve is well nestled in the Aravali Hills covering 800 sq km area divided into the grasslands, dry deciduous forests, sheer cliffs and rocky landscape. The Sariska was declared a sanctuary in 1955 and attained the status of a National Park in 1979.

About Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary :-
Sharp cliffs of hills and narrow valleys of the Aravallis dominate the landscape of Sariska, whose forests are dry and deciduous. Within the Sariska wildlife sanctuary there are the ruins of medieval temples of Garh-Rajor, belonging to the 10th and 11th centuries.

A 17th century castle on a sharp hilltop at Kankwari, provides a panoramic view of flying Egyptian vultures and eagles. The area was declared a sanctuary in 1955 and became a National Park in 1979.

Sariska park is home to numerous carnivores including Leopard, Wild Dog, Jungle Cat, Hyena, Jackal, and Tiger. In fact, the cattle density in Rajasthan is very high, and milk from desert settlements is supplied to the large cities close to the state, including Delhi.

The principal meal for the family consists of dinner, when freshly baked bread and porridge is served with a yoghurt curry called karhi, and with vegetables that may consist of dried beans, or, now, increasingly fresh produce that is grown and transported from neighbouring states. For most families, breakfast is a glass full of hot tea gulped down with stale bread, before rushing off to attend to the day’s tasks, and lunch is a frugal meal of unleavened bread eaten with a spicy chutney of chillies and garlic.

Religious People – 

An intensely religious people, each home in Rajasthan will have a room or at least an alcove where they fold their hands and say their prayers before calendar images of their gods. To seek benevolence from their gods, for in this hostile landscape, it is easy to be superstitious, and they pray to the terrible image of Kali, the wrathful form of Shiva’s consort, to protect them from the demons of the elements, and the scrounge of mankind.
