Jakhoo Hill is 2 km from the Ridge, at a height of 2500m. Jakhu Hill is the highest peak in Shimla and offers a beautiful view of the town and of the Himalayas. At the top of the Jakhu Hill, is an old temple of Hanuman, which is also the home of countless playful monkeys. The Hanuman Mandir at the top of Jakhu hill is the highest point in town. This Hanuman Mandir is one of the most favoured spots for tourists and pilgrims. The monkeys around the temple surprisingly do attack people; they however look for food from tourist and pilgrims. It is a steep 45 minute walk to the top of the hill, however for those who are not familiar with hill or mountain climbing it will take more than an hour. On the way to the top of the hill, there are beautiful views of hills, surrounding valleys, huge trees and of course the playful monkeys jumping from one tree to another.

Jakhoo Hill is known as the highest point of the Shimla. It is situated at the high attitude of 2500 m or 8048 feet from the sea level. It offers the visitors a panoramic view of the Shimla city and its surroundings such as valleys and the snow peaks. The Jakhoo Hill is located just 2 km from the Ridge at the center of the city. One of the main attractions, it also has an old Hanuman Temple at the peak. The temple is also known as the Jakhoo Temple. This temple is one of the most popular religious spots in Shimla ans is devoted to the worship of the Lord Hanuman. It is believed that the temple was constructed by Yaaku sage. One of the most myth logically relevant places, you can see the 108 ft high statue of Lord Hanuman which is standing majestically from behind the dense deodar trees. There is a steep climb of the 300 meters to the temple. It has many paintings and statues of Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman. The temple also has a pair of feet which are in white marble. People believe they are of Lord Hanuman.

The priests organize the special puja and festival during the Dussehra with much pomp and ceremony. The Dussehra festival is the best time to visit the Hanuman Temple. This is dwelling place of the Monkeys, believed to be the followers of Lord Hanuman. You can also enjoy one of the most breathtaking views in the world, the sunrise and sunsets in the panoramic vista of Shimla. Mountaineering and the trekking is one of the biggest activities in the Jakhoo Hill. The government organizes the regular trekking and mountaineering in this area. The trekking and the mountaineering routes are dotted by the captivating and dense pine forests. You can also hire ponies to reach the temple. Various shops which are located in the foot of the Jakhoo Hill, also offer walking sticks to the visitors along with food and beverage.
