We were driven one hour outside of Jaisalmer, to a small village in the middle of the desert. Before meeting our camels, we met these charming kids, who were thrilled to have visitors in their village. Tyler and Kara are always a big hit and usually have to answer tons of questions from everyone they meet (names, where we are from, and they want to know all about Kara’s stuffed lion, Simba).
It was in this village that we met our camels and climbed aboard for our late afternoon ride out into the desert. I was the first one on the camel. Once the camel stands up, you are really high off of the ground!!
Camel Safari Ladakh
Camel safari in Ladakh is enjoyed in the month of July, August and September. You will traverse through rutted mountain terrains on camels. The cold deserts of Ladakh offer beautiful sights of colorful landscapes and remote villages. Spend your nights under the studded sky. Jodhpur is one of the more cosmopolitan cities within Rajasthan and while it does not have desert vistas around, it is the gateway to many luxurious and five-star desert safari experiences because of the prominence of the city itself. One of the most visited dunes around the Jodhpur stretch is Osian, a beautiful desert village which now flaunts some of the most luxurious desert safari camps in the area.
