Kamshet Tourism

Kamshet, a small place located in Maharashtra along the Mumbai-Pune highway is famous for its scenic beauty, hills and hill stations. It is close by to Khandala and Lonavala which are called the twin hills. The quiet Kamshet has spectacular paddy and sunflower fields. Para-gliding is one of the main attractions here. Adventurous tourists fly at a height of 175 and get full fleged view of the green bed and the Pawna Lake. Shelar and Kondeshwar cliff which are about 8 and 20kms respectively from Kamshet are prominent para-gliding spots. Apart from para-gliding it is also famous for the Buddhist caves which consists of sculptures of Lord Buddha. Karla Caves, Bedsa caves, Bhaja caves and Kondeshwar temple are the best places to visit.

PLACES TO VISIT
Karla Caves : Karla caves are famous for its amazing rock-cut carvings. Theravada Buddhist monks built these caves in the 3rd century. These caves are located close to Lonavala.

Bedsa Caves: These caves were built in 1st century and are famously called Hinayana Buddhist caves. This cave is famous for its dancing and animal carvings.

Bhaja Caves : These caves were constructed around 200 B.C, is a group of 18 rock-cut caves. It is famous for its 14 stupas. 9 stupas are locted outside the caves and 5 inside. The spectacular waterfall near the last cave attracts tourists.

Kondeshwar Temple : It is an old temple, where Lord Shiva is the main diety. It is located in the Pohara range which is fringed by thick forest and hills. Devotees throng here during MahaShivaRathri.

Para-gliding : Para-gliding is one of the main attractions here. Para-gliding schools train freshers.
