Nurturing more than hundred varieties of high yielding cattle, the Indo- Swiss dairy farm is a highly specialized livestock project commenced by the Kerala Livestock Development Board (KLDB) Ltd. It has become a milestone in the field of cattle rearing in Kerala. The Indo Swiss Dairy Farm is placed amidst a picturesque landscape with Mattupetty Lake near it, setting the vista for clicking some stunning photographs. The place embraces everyone with natural beauty and cool climate. Cattle grazing freely on the beautiful green hills of Mattupetty is a great sight to watch. As it is a grazing ground of cattle, the Mattupetty hill station is often referred to as the "Cattle Village".
Mattupetty Indo-Swiss Farm Timings & Entry Fee
The dairy farm is open to public visit on all days of the week from 9 AM to 11 AM and 2 PM to 3:30 PM. A nominal fee of INR 5 is charged per head.
History Behind the Mattupetty Indo-Swiss Farm
Also known as the Cattle Village, Mattupetty received this cattle development and research centre in 1963 when it was established by the Government of Switzerland. Set up under the Indo Swiss Project Kerala (ISPK), the aim was to improve the quality of livestock farming in Kerala. As of today, the program is run by the Milk Marketing Board and Kerala Livestock Development.
