Gun Hill

Gun Hill is one of the highest peaks in Mussoorie and can be easily accessed by a cable car which can be taken from Mall Road. Situated at a height of over 2024 metres, Gun Hill provides a perfect opportunity to spend some quiet time gazing at Doon Valley and the mesmerizing snow-covered peaks of Himalayas. It is some 400 feet above the Mall Road and will take less than 5 minutes to reach via the ropeway. Adventurous types can also go to Gun Hill by foot but it involves a steep climb. Gun Hill used to be a place from where a cannon was shot at the mid of the day, daily, during British Rule, for people to adjust their watches. The popular tourist spot is a perfect vantage point to witness the sun as it sets behind the glorious mountains of Himalayas.

Gun Hill Ropeway
Since the Gun Hill is situated 400 ft above the Mall Road it is accessible by cable cars. The ropeway cable car round trip costs INR 75 per head and undoubtedly offers a picturesque view during the climb of the distant hills and green landscapes.

The timing for ropeway is as follows:
10:00 AM - 6:00 PM (January to December),
8:00 AM - 10:00 PM (May to July and October),
10:00 AM - 7:00 PM (August to September and late November to April)

Being a popular travel attraction in Mussoorie, Gun Hill can be visited throughout the year. But, the best time for enjoying a good quality time is during the winters. When this hill covers itself with the white snow, it looks even appealing to the tourists. People can enjoy the cable car ride and skiing.

How to reach gunhill mussoorie
By Air : Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport in Dehradun at a distance of 34 km from Mussoorie.
By Rail : Dehradun got nearest railway station. Its has regular trains from all around the country. Once reach there take a bus or texi from there to Mussoorie.
By Road : It got regular buses service from the other cities. Delhi and Dehradun. Once you are in Mussoorie. You can take ropeway cable car from Mall Road or walk on foot from The Mall Rd to reach Gunhill Mussoorie (1.9 km).
