Best Time To Visit Nainital

Nainital, the headquarters of Kumaun division, is the most popular place of tourist and religious significance. It is situated in the lower Himalaya not very far from the plains. This hill resort is well connected with most places in northern and north–western India. The city, at a height of 1938 meters surrounds the Naini Lake which derives its name from goddess Nainidevi and is in turn surrounded by seven peaks viz. Naina Peak (2640 m), Alma (2432m), Sherka Danda (2405m), Laria Kanta (2485 m), Ayyarpatta (2320 m), Handi Bundi (2179m), and Deopatta (2422 m).

In winter there is snowfall in Nainital and is an added attraction for tourists. Nainital is also a place of religious interest. The lake basin of the Nainital is believed to be one of the places where the left eye of Sati fell when Lord Shiva was wandering in a daze carrying her corpse. Sati took rebirth as Parvati, the daughter of the Himalaya and once again became of the consort of Lord Shiva.

Winter Season - Within October to February

Besides birds, you can sight majestic Bengal tiger roaming around the park in the winter season. So, there are high chances to have a natural sight of endangered tiger then.
