Patiala

Patiala is a city in the Patiala District of Punjab. The city is located in the south-eastern region of Punjab. It is the fourth largest city of this state. It was founded by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Patiala is situated around the Qila Mubarak (the Fortunate Castle) which was built in 1763 by two militiamen Sardar Lakhna and Baba Ala Singh. During his rule, Maharaja Narendra Singh got ten gates built around the city. Captain Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab, is the current head of the royal house. The city has been nick-named ‘City of Sardars’.
