Golden Haveli is a 42 room hotel and derives its name from the nickname of Jaisalmer,“Golden City”. The city stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone embellished by a fort at the top, known as Jaisalmer Fort or Sonar Killa . The name Sonar Kella came into existence after the mystery movie called Sonar Kella https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonar_Kella directed by eminent director Satyajit Ray .The movie won the National Film Awards for Best Screenplay & Best Direction (1974). The fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the largest fortifications in the world with denizens having abode in It. It has yellow sandstone walls which appear ochre-colored during the day and honey-gold during sun set, spectacularly merging with the desert and adding to the yellow-golden tinge of the city.
