Mehndi is yet another traditional yet exciting pre wedding ceremony. In Indian weddings, a lot of emphasis is given on customs and rituals and the same is reflected in the Mehndi ceremony before marriage. Mehndi is one of the sixteen adornments of the bride and her beauty is incomplete without it. Mehndi ceremony usually takes place just before marriage. According to the ritual, the bride does not step out of the house after this ceremony.
Mehndi ceremony is essentially organized by the family of the bride and is usually a private affair which takes place in the presence of friends, relatives and family members. Women relatives of the bride also get Mehndi applied to their hands, although the designs are not as elaborate as the bridal Mehndi.
This is carried out as an event from the bride’s family amidst of lot of fun, dancing, and music. At times it’s being accompanied by traditional musical instruments like Dholak which adds buzz to the celebration. Besides the cosmetic appeal of Mehendi, it has a lot of medicinal properties which acts to reduce the stressful situations and lessens the anxiety. Mehendi in Indian marriages usually takes place in the bride’s place before one or two days of the marriage ceremony. There are many scientific reasons in the Indian wedding ceremony rituals and traditions. The Luxury Mehendi ceremony is also one of them and that’s why the event is decked up with colorful pillows. Though the guest list for this function is a total women power, the men are also invited to enjoy the music and dance master. North Indians and Punjabis have the authentic tradition of celebrating this event but with straying culture, the Mehendi has spread its aroma to almost every community in India. A royal dress is also chosen by the bride to adorn the function. There are a lot of beliefs in applying the reddish-orange strain.
