Tulsi Manas Temple

Tulsi Manas Temple is a Hindu temple located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. This temple is located about 5 kilometers from Cantt of Varanasi. The most famous Sankat Mochan Hanuman temple of Varanasi is located about 250 meters from the Tulsi Manas and the Shree Durgo Kund Temple is 700 meters away. The Tulsi Manas Temple has special significance in the temples of Varanasi. Its temple also has historical and cultural importance in Hinduism. Because the ancient Hindu epic Ramcharitmanas was written in its simple form in the 16th century by Hindu poet and saint Goswami Tulsidas.

Ramayana which is the special epic of Hinduism. Ramayana was written in the Sanskrit language by Valmiki. Which is believed to be written between about 500 and 100 BCE. Because the original Ramayana is in Sanskrit. Therefore it was not easy to understand the general public. Hence Ramcharitmanas was written in easy Hindi language. The Tulsi Manas Temple was built by Seth Ratan Lal Sureka. This temple is completely built of marble. The temple was inaugurated in 1964 by the then President of India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

In the center of this temple is the idol of Shri Rama Mata Janaki, Signs and Hanuman. On one side are Mata Annapurna and Shivji and on the other side Satyanarayana is established. The specialty of this temple is that the Ramcharit Manas is inscribed on the walls of the entire temple. The entire Ramayana on the marble stone on the walls is very beautifully written by Nakkasi. The statue of Saint Tulsi Das Ji is installed on the second floor of the temple. The festival of Annakoot, Krishna Janmashtami and Rama Navin is celebrated very well in the Tulsi Manas Temple. There is also a library of rare copies of Ramayana in all languages ​​on the first floor of the temple.

History of the Tulsi Manas Mandir Temple
The main gate of the temple has written Shri Tulsi Manas Mandir Haridwar. At the right side of the entrance gate, there is an attractive Tulsi Garden which has very calm and clean environment. The Tulsi Garden has the statue of Tulsidas which illustrates the stanza “Tulsi Das chandan ragane, tilak det Raghuvir.” On the left side of the main temple, there is a beautiful pond having four Ghats.

Each bank of the temple has different statues denoting special subjects of the Hindu Epics. The northern Ghat of the pond has statue of the Shri Kakbhushundi ji, southern bank has statue of Shri Yagywalkaji Maharaj, eastern ghat has statue of Shri Ashuthosh Shankar (means Lord Shiva) and the western bank has statue of the Goswami Tulsidas Ji. Center of the temple has Ram Darbar with the Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati. The statue of all the Gods and Goddess, described in the Hindu epic, is present in the temple. The wall of the temple is described with different types of Chaupayees, Dohas, Chhandas and Sorathas.

The second floor of the temple has statues and scenes of the great Hindu legends from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The temple is named after the great saint of 16th century Tulsidas.
