The Mandir of Sundha Mata situated in the Sundha hills of Jalore. Situated at an altitude of more than 1200 meters, this temple is a sacred religious site. Devotees coming from different states to visit Sundha Mata bring broken idols with them and leave them on the mountain.
History of this Temple
Jalore Sundha Mata Mandir is more than 900 years old. Apart from this, a Shivling is installed near the idol of Chamunda Mata. There is a history associated with the temple, which adds to its importance. After the Battle of Haldighati in the year 1576, Mewar ruler Maharana Pratap took shelter of Sundha Mata during his days of distress. It is also said that the Chauhan rulers of Jalore had special respect for Sundha Mata. Because of this devotion, Uday Singh’s son Chachigdev got this temple constructed in Samvat 1312. The first inscription here is from 1262 AD which describes the victory of the Chauhans and the fall of the Parmars. The second inscription is from 1326 and the third from 1727.
