Lakhi Mela Khatu Shyam Ji 2024, Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Mandir Khatu Shyam Ji Lakhi Mela 2024 - Falgun Mela is a very auspicious occasion to seek blessings of Khatu Shyam Baba. The Falgun Mela is one of the most religious festivals celebrated by the great followers of Khatu Shyam Baba. This mela held at Shree Khatu Shyam Mandir at Khatu Dham in Sikar district of Rajasthan. It was the day when Barbareek’s head appeared for the first time in Shyam Kund. Therefore, the Khatu Shyam Ji Mela or Nishan Yatra will be celebrating every year.

This Khatu Shyam ji Falgun Mela occurs in the month of Phalguna which is generally in Feb or March. A large number of devotee visit Khatu Shyam Temple, Sikar from across India to take a sight of Baba Shyam Head. It is also called Nishan Yatra, means a holy journey to Khatu Shyam Ji with Shyam Baba flags (Nishan). Almost all believer of Shyam Baba starts foot Journey from Ringus to Khatu Dham. During this 18 km journey, they enjoy thoroughly with chants of Shree Shyam and bhajan sandhya. Some devotee play with colours (Gulal) on the way. Many Shyam bhaktas supply food to walkers in the shade of tents. They also encouraged to complete their journey with full enthusiasm. You can become a part of Nishan Yatra and Shyam Baba will fulfil your wishes. It is said that if one offers a Nishan at the temple during Falgun Mela, baba grants his desires.

Khatu Shyam Ji’s story in brief :
For the ones who are oblivious to this fact and do not know about Shri Khatu Shyam ji, Here is a brief story. The history of Shri Shyam originates from the Mahabharata. Bhima was a Pandava prince, whose son Ghatotkacha was the father of Barbarika, hence Barbarika was the grandson of Bhima. Owing to the fabulous chivalry and prowess of Barbarika, Krishna did not want him to participate in the great war. As Barbarika got three arrows and he was asked to help the one who is losing, so when Pandavas were losing, he gave help to Pandavas and when Kauravs were losing, he helped Kauravs. Due to this, it was impossible to get the final result of Mahabharata as neither side was losing. Hence Khatu Shyam ji is also known as HAARE KA SAHARA. So, Krishna begged of him his head which Barbarika gave him without any hitch but on the condition that he be allowed to witness the war. Krishna set up his head on a hilltop and also blessed him that he would be deified and worshipped in Kaliyuga like him and that his worshippers shall have their wishes fulfilled.

About 975 years ago the wife of Roopsingh Chauhan saw in her dream that deity instructed him to take his image out of the earth. The indicated place, when dug up, yielded the present idol of Shri ShyamJi, which was enshrined in the temple. That spot is now known as Shyam Kund. Lord Shyam Ji- his head is worshipped. The idol is made of rare stone and commands tremendous respect from visitors. Shyam Ji is the family god of lacs of families.

Main attractions of Khatu Shyam Ji Mela
Khatu shyam Phalgun mela During Khatu Shyam Mela, you can get a true sense of Indian traditions in the form of exuberance, large crowds and resplendence. Bhakts, holding a saffron colored flag in their hands, will walk bare foot from Ringus to Khatu. This saffron flag, hoisted on a bamboo is called a Nishan and this bare foot yatra of 17kms is called Nishan Yatra.
You will see various stall selling out the beautiful flowers and sweets to the pilgrims. Another interesting aspect of the fair is the magnificently decorated shops that sell the beautifully dressed Radha Krishna idols. One of the main attractions will be Jadula ceremony, wherein, people will get their new born child head shaved. Nukad Nataks (dramas), depicting the Khatu Shyam Katha, will be performed. And famous singers will also come to perform Shyam Bhajans during this auspicious occasion at Bhajan Sandhyas.

How to reach Khatu during Khatu Shyam Ji Mela?
Khatu is located at a distance of 18 km from Ringus and well connected to Sikar and Jaipur. The nearest airport is at Jaipur (115km), and the nearest railway station is at Sikar (50km). You can reach the place easily by hiring a taxi or using a bus. It will not take you more than 3 hours to reach the temple from Jaipur.
