Tourist Attractions in Ranthambore

Tourist Attractions in Ranthambore National Park is one of the biggest national parks in North India. It is the protected tiger reserve for this endangered species. Bengal Tiger and other wildlife have their abode here. The Indian government established the park as the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in 1955. In 1973, it was accorded the status of a tiger reserve forest. Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary are the adjacent forests incorporated into the tiger reserve area of Ranthambore Park.

The Ranthambore national park derived its name from the historic Ranthambore Fort inside the park. Van Ki Asha or Banas River in the north and Chambal River in the south surround the park, which borders Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Tiger spotting is more probable because this tiger reserve has a small area compared to other tiger reserves in India. Moreover, the forest remains arid for around 9 months, and it makes it the most visited parks in India. The demeanor of tigers is diurnal, so you can easily spot them during daytime tourist safaris.

The park is habitation to as many as 63 tigers, which are the main draw. The reserve shelters 320 bird species, 40 species of mammals, 50 species of Butterflies, 40 species of reptiles, 2 species of amphibians. A verdant landscape of 300 species is there in this massive area of 1334 square kilometers. Sambar deer, striped hyenas, wild boars, and sloth bears are the major attractions.

Ranthambore Fort
This majestic fort is a major attraction of the wildlife which is a marvel example of the Chauhan dynasty architectural style. This huge fort is also listed among UNESCO declared world heritage sites. The construction of the place was started in 944 and got completed during the reign of Rao hammier Deo Chauhan. There was a time when there was a huge jungle around this fort where one can carry out various adventure activities. Later in 1950, the area became the part of Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary.

Trinetra Ganesha Temple
This amazing Ganesha temple is one of the oldest Ganesha temples in Rajasthan which is considered quite auspicious with many other temples in the state. This temple is also called the Pratham Ganesha Temple and in this temple, one can find the deities of the entire family of Lord Ganesha. The temple was built by King Hammer. Legend has that during the war the stock was about to run out and then one night Lord Ganesha appear in Hammer’s dream and assured him that stocks will be filled. Next morning the war ceased and stock replenished. Thus king decides to build the temple of Lord Ganesha. Every year thousands of devotees visit this temple being on their Rajasthan tour packages. Every day temple has held 5 aartis.

Surwal Lake
It is also a beautiful place which is quite a sightseeing place near Ranthambore Park. This pristine lake is a house of many colorful birds which can be seen here feasting on fishes. The winter season brings lots of migratory birds with it. As this lake is shallow, it gets dried up during the summer so it is advisable to visit this lake during monsoon or in winter. Tucked with tranquility the Surwal Lake is a perfect place to spend some time in solace with oneself.

Padam Lake
Padam Lake is the largest one in Ranthambore National Park. This huge and charming lake is serving as the major source of water for the wild animals of the place. One can enjoy watching various animals and birds here during the morning time in a day. The Chinkara deer, rarest of its species can also be seen here (if you are lucky). The presence of water lilies makes the national park more enchanting and attractive.

Kachida Valley
One of its kinds of places, the Kachida Valley is another major attraction of Ranthambore National Park which is located close to the outskirts of the park. This place is majorly inhabited by the Bears and the Panthers. The presence of the jagged hills enhances the beauty of this national park and makes this place more attractive and fascinating. Other animals such as deer and wild boars are also found in good numbers in here. Presence of Sloth Bear near honeycombs and fruits make Kachida Valley more pleasing.

Jogi Mahal
This beautiful palace is located near the Padam Lake; the Jogi Mahal in Ranthambore was once used as the rest house for the visitors. Jogi Mahal is a beautiful palace whose charismatic surrounding makes Jogi Mahal more pleasing and attractive. The accommodation in the famous Jogi Mahal is now prohibited, yet you can always pay a visit to this beautiful place. There is a banyan tree near the palace which is considered as the largest banyan tree in India.
