Khuri Sand Dunes Attractions
Khuri Sand Dunes Attractions are located in the outskirts of Jaisalmer, around 40 K.M. southwest from the main city. Khuri is a small and beautiful village with very less population and yet a majestic beauty of its own. Khuri is famous for its desert beauty, here you can experience the traditional lifestyle and Rajastani folklores at its best. The sand dunes here are enough to keep you awestruck. In the land of Rajput, the scattered mud houses and the simplistic living of the locals will give you the best glimpse of native Rajasthan.
The camel rides take you to its breathtaking heights as you get a closer view of thatched straw roofs, narrow streets, other camels, and the colorful local bazaar. The tourists often organize campfires here and listen to the songs of 'Kalbeliyas'.
Khuri Desert sand dunes are still unexplored to some extent. The best time to visit Khuri sand dunes is from October to March as summer is too hot. The best things to be done in Khuri are desert safari, enjoy the sand dunes and visit the Sam sand dunes.
Jaisalmer Fort (Jaisalmer Golden Fort or Sonar Quila)
Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Quila, is one of the largest fort in India, which was built in 1156 AD.
Jaisalmer Fort is one of very few live forts where still 25% of total Jaisalmer population lives, as till 1947, Jaisalmer city was only this fort, there was nothing outside.
The Fort get the term “golden” in it name because, when the sunlight is maximum (around noon), the yellow sandstone, which covers all the walls, shine in golden colour.

Gadisar Lake Jaisalmer
Gadisar Lake is a beautiful water body in the middle of the desert city of Jaisalmer. This is an artificial lake built during the time of King Rawal Jaisal, who formed the Jaisalmer city in 12th century AD.
At Gadisar Lake, you can come here to enjoy a boat ride, feed fish & also see the stunning architectural works done on the river ghats.
At the Ghats you will find many temples (especially the Shiva temple), Chattris (cenotaphs). migratory birds as Gadisar lake is one of very few water body in Jaisalmer district & many locals selling hand made handicrafts.

Bada Bagh Jaisalmer
Bada Bagh, is a unique site near Jaisalmer city (around 6 km away) where you will find beautiful & stunning cenotaphs, which belong to the 16th century & later, royal family members of Jaisalmer.
Bada Bagh is rated as a desert garden near Jaisalmer & here travellers usually come while going or coming back from Sam sand dunes, as this site in on-route.

Patwon ki Haveli Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer city is not just famous for its desert dunes like Sam & Khuri, but also for its Mansions (Havelis).
Inside Jaisalmer Fort, you will find 8 must-see Havelis and out of them, a group of 5, are rated as the best. These are Patwon ki Havelis.
In 1805 AD, Mr Guman Chand Patwa, who was a famous merchant of gold, silver (& some even suggested opium) built a total of 5 Havel’s for his 5 sons and made sure that his mansions were the best then all other haveli’s like Nathmal Haveli, Salim Singh haveli etc in whole Jaisalmer.
Today, all travellers who plan a Jaisalmer Fort tour, Patwon Havelis is rated as the top site to see.
Currently, Patwon haveli has been turned into a museum (maintained by ASI) & is one of the most visited landmark of Jaisalmer.
Salim Singh ki Haveli Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer havelis are the most popular sightseeing places of Jaisalmer and all of them are located hardly 10 min walking distance from Jaisalmer Fort.
So after you have visited Jaisalmer Fort, you must make sure that you visit these havelis and have a look at their unbelievable architecture.
There are around 6-7 havelis around Jaisalmer Fort, and Salim Singh ki Haveli is the most outstanding of them all. It was built in the year 1815.
This haveli has an interesting history behind its construction, which makes it even more attractive than the other havelis.
Nathmal ki Haveli Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer city, you must see the havelis. These havelis are huge mansions, and you can see so many of them, if you go walking at a short distance from Jaisalmer Fort.
Nathmal ki Haveli is one of the most beautiful havelis you will see in Jaisalmer. It was built in the 19th century by two architect brothers, who built two havelis independently.
Today, if you go and see Nathmal ki Haveli, you will see two very interesting architecture in these havelis and it is what makes Nathmal ki Haveli among the top tourist landmarks of Jaisalmer.
Even today, a part of Nathmal ki Haveli is occupied by its residents, but you will be able to see so many interesting things here and also do some shopping of Rajasthani gift items and souvenirs.

Desert Culture Museum
This is a private museum, setup by Mr NK Sharma, a famous historian of Jaisalmer. Here, in evening a puppet show is present, which is the best show one can watch in whole Jaisalmer.
Vyas Chhatri
Vyas Chhatri is 2nd cenotaphs site in Jaisalmer, and is names after Ved Vyas, writer of Mahabharat. The whole site is made up of yellow sandstone, and a bit deserted , but awesome to grab some photos.
Jaisalmer war museum
Located just 10 km east of Jaisalmer city, is one of the best Army museum where you will see the tanks captured in Indo-Pak war that took place near Jaisalmer, at Longewala.
