Kaila Devi Temple

Karauli District is a district of Rajasthan state in western India. The town of Karauli is the district headquarters. Karauli is famous for popular red-stone. Karauli State was a princely state in India from 1348 to 1949. It is bordered by Dholpur District to the east; by Bharatpur District to the north-east; by Dausa District to the north; and by SawaiMadhopur District to the west. The Chambal River forms the south-eastern boundary of the district, 5 K.M. far from Mandrayal across which lies the state of Madhya Pradesh. While almost the entire district is covered by hills and ravines, there are no lofty peaks, the highest having an elevation of less than 1400 feet above sea-level.

Kaila Devi is believed to be the form of Mahalakshmi or the Goddess of wealth. Red flags along with bhog Prasad are offered by devotees to the Goddess on each day of the year. The most attractive attribute of the Kaila Devi Temple is the Jagran performed by Jagatji at the temple. 2 more attractions of the temple includes the shrine facing HanumanjiMandir (locally addressed as Languria) and ‘Bhairon Baba’ Mandir, situated in the courtyard of the temple. The sanctum sanctorum houses the idols of two deities, one of Kaila Devi and another is of Chamunda Devi.
